One of the rarest Greek coins in existence goes under the hammer for 1.349.730 Euro ($1.8 million)

Known as one the rarest and important artefacts of ancient art, the coin silver decadrachm of Acragas is up for auction by Numismatica Ars Classica in Zurich. Described as being the notable masterpiece of ancient art this amazing artefact is expected to fetch a whopping $1.8 million. Notably, the sale will be comprised of a total of 411 coins which were in the collection of Hunts and Archer M. Huntington. This prestigious collection along with the famous silver Greek coin, that was crafted before the Carthaginian invasion in 406 B.C., is expected to garner about $6,3 million. However, this is not the first time the coin has made a record at the auction block. Back in 1990, it was sold for around 749850Euro ($1,000,000).

Some of the world’s most expensive coins, include the rare $3 gold coin found in a book which was expected to sell for $4 million, the 1873 US dime which sells for $1.6 million, a rare 1793 penny which sells for over $1 million, and the historic 1792 Silver Center cent which was expected to fetch 749.850 Euro ($1,000,000).
